MIXED MEDIA - FINE ART by artist J LUCA STEVENS

Tahoe based - Northern California artist J Luca Stevens combines her experience in the outdoor industry as a guide + professional ski patroller with her industrial sewing trade skills to create large scale + uv resistant mixed media constructions echoing sail making + canvas craft techniques.

These geographically accurate water-based landscapes are made from reclaimed sails, recycled + new marine fabrics, and uv-resistant india ink - industrial sewn construction and mounted on gallery depth canvas frames. For each composition, Luca uses multiple reference photos and digital line drawing tools to capture dynamic landscapes then works in series allowing each mountain silhouette to be captured in different light + seasons.

MATERIALS used are often appropriate for high uv exposure locations. Marine fabrics are innately durable and uv-resistant. Additional uv resistant coating available upon request.

SCALE / SIZE - Luca most often works in between the 36 - 36 inch by 48 - 60 inch size range. However, larger and smaller work are available upon request. The sewn mixed media constructions are typically mounted on standard size prestretched canvas frames. Custom sizes available for commissions. See shipping / delivery notes for details on larger works.

COSTS vary depending on level of detail and time needed in studio. Currently 2024 typical costs are 36 x 36 - $1300 - $1875 , 36 x 48 - $1400 - $2400, 48 x 48 - $2200 - $2600, and 48 x 60 are $2750 - $3600. All questions and requests are welcome.

COMMISSIONS are welcome and allow the client to specify the size and orientation of the art work. Compositional line drawings are revised and approved before work begins. Commissions often reference / revisit existing series or reference your water-based landscape photos. Please email for commission process details.

SHIPPING / DELIVERY - Cost includes Truckee / North Lake Tahoe Local Delivery. Reno NV + Bay Area delivery negotiable if you can be patient until our next adventure headed in that direction. Out of area shipping options vary by size and must be negotiated separately. Options available to ship unmounted art to save on shipping cost. Large scale work 60 x 60 and over - mixed media constructions and frames will be shipped separately and mounted and hung onsite by artist, homeowner, or hired gallery professional.

PRIVATE SHOWINGS - Artwork is most often sold and delivered as a result of private showings. No obligation and friends are welcome to join! Seeing the color, scale, and composition in your home is a unparalleled way to select new artwork for your home. Seeing existing works in home can also be the catalyst to pin down commissions details allowing the client to easily reference the size and color preferences.
